Meet Malcolm
They call me Malcolm—a poet, a traveler, and a storyteller. Born in Detroit, I was raised by love, resilience, and the desire to explore the depths of human emotions. My journey began in the heart of the Motor City, guided by my grandparents, who instilled in me the value of wisdom and perseverance.
My poetry is a reflection of my life’s experiences—a patchwork of love stories, heartbreaks, political musings, and cultural exchanges. From my early days of writing “I Like Me” with Aunt Bernadine to finding solace in therapy, my words have always been a means of understanding my journey and connecting with others.
ABOUT ME AND MY TEAM
Iam deeply inspired by Robert Plutchik’s work on emotional labels, which helped me assign meaning to the emotions behind each poem. My writing also incorporates elements of my multicultural journey, blending English and Spanish, celebrating my Mexican roots and the relationships that have become a part of my story.
When I’m not writing, you’ll find me traveling the world—65 countries and counting—seeking to connect with new cultures, food, and perspectives. My love for exploration is an extension of my desire to understand the richness of human experiences and emotions.
